Longevity (NAD+) IV Therapy
So, you aren’t as young as you used to be. Aches and pains creep up and staying healthy as your body ages can get a bit more difficult. Understanding Longevity NAD
Research on Longevity
The NIH (National Institute for Health) and the National Institute on Aging has established a directive on aging research and how to better understand the dynamics for aging well, from the biology of it and down to cell involvement.
There are many different factors within our cells that change as we age. One of the factors they are researching and have found promising results is looking at cellular senescent, a process in which cells lose function and cause damage to other cells. If this process of cellular senescent is stopped, how does this affect longevity? Another factor they are looking at for longevity is how it is inherited through genes and DNA replication. A recent study has at Harvard looking at our own DNA repair and how this may help longevity.
Among many cellular components, one molecule has been found to play multiple roles, primarily in anti-inflammation and anti-aging. We will discuss this more later on in the blog but first let's review important vitamins and minerals that are needed at optimal levels for health and wellness.
WHAT IS NAD+
NAD+ is a crucial co-enzyme and a powerful antioxidant that every living thing needs to survive. It is naturally produced by the body and is essentially the power source for our body and cells. As we age, the amount of NAD+ we produce cannot keep up with the NAD+ our body uses to fight all of the natural processes that come with getting older. In fact, studies show that by middle age, our NAD+ levels have decreased by half. Researchers have also found that boosting NAD+ levels in the body can slow or, in some cases, actually reverse certain aspects of aging. By doing this we can actually delay the progression of many age related diseases.
How does it work?
Our mitochondria is the power plant of each of our cells. The mitochondria in each of our cells utilizes NAD+ to create energy molecules. Although we continue to produce NAD+ naturally in our cells, the amount that we use greatly outweighs the amount we produce. Increasing the amount of NAD+ in our body helps repair our DNA and mitochondria, as we repair our individual cells, Our body as a whole is also being repaired.
What can NAD+ help?
There are many different systems that NAD+ has a positive effect on. Below you’ll find information on a few of the most notable ones. Please reach out to us if you are unsure if NAD+ is appropriate for your situation.
- Immunity, Disease and Inflammation - As a powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant it greatly increases our immune response. NAD+ has been shown to decrease inflammation of all kinds, from cellular inflammation, associated with acute illness, cardiomyopathy, which weakens our heart, to muscle and joint inflammation, both chronic and acute. Increased levels of NAD+ can help fight autoimmune disorders. It can decrease elevated blood pressure as well as increase capacity for exercise. It improves our insulin sensitivity which in turn, decreases our risk of diabetes. NAD+ also can reverse damage to our mitochondria that occurs with age. Allowing our body to become more efficient at producing the energy molecules our body needs to fight infection and disease. Higher NAD+ levels have also been associated with longer lifespans.
- Skin - Our skin protects our body from many environmental factors, and as our NAD+ levels decrease with age, our skin has a more difficult time repairing itself and outward signs of aging occur. Boosting our NAD+ levels allows our mitochondria to repair our damaged cells including the cells that provide elasticity, This process results in a decrease of fine lines and wrinkles. As a powerful antioxidant, it also helps remove toxins from our body which in turn, reduces spots and uneven skin complexions. NAD+ deficiencies have also been linked to increased skin sensitivity to UV exposure as well as an impaired ability to heal and increased rate of cancer.
- Weight - As we get older, maintaining a healthy weight isn’t as easy as it once was. As our NAD+ levels decrease, so does our metabolism. Our cells can begin to become resistant to insulin, making it more difficult to convert the calories we consume into usable energy. Increasing your NAD+ levels can not only improve your metabolism but also significantly improve or even reverse insulin resistance.
- Brain function - One of the most researched aspects of NAD+ therapy involves how it affects our brains. This powerful coenzyme actually has the ability to regenerate neural pathways. It allows our brains to function better with improved concentration and clarity. Higher levels of NAD+ provide increased protection against age related neurological diseases and it has also improved cognition and neuroplasticity in Alzheimer’s and dementia patients.
With the myriad of benefits that NAD+ offers combined with all of the vitamins and minerals in our Revive IV. Age really can be “just a number”. Book online or call us today and one of our highly trained critical care nurses will come to you. Let us help you start turning back the clock.
The Infusion Process
IV Vitamin and NAD IV Therapy Infusions can be combined and typically last one to two hours and our critical care nurses start with a smaller dose to closely monitor your initial IV infusion. At IntraVene's Wellness Therapies, critical care nurses remain our sole provider as we stand by the quality, skill, and experience of nurses delivering your infusion. It’s your health, experience does matter.
Following the first IV Therapy Infusion, most clients receive another infusion every 2 to 4 weeks. Cost of infusions start at $250 and programs can be purchased at a significantly discounted rate.
Couldn't I Just Eat Better & Get the Same Results?
Yes, NAD can be ingested but an IV therapy infusion is the most effective way to get optimal benefits by offering the highest bioavailability. By bypassing the adsorption of the GI system and eliminating the challenges of difficulty swallowing pills or nausea that can accompany them, IV Infusions are a better options. Plus studies have primarily shown NAD as IV Infusions for neurocognitive disorders rather than pill form.
How Long Do Longevity Infusions Last?
NAD bioavailability remains in your body for about 10-15 days after the infusion.
